Executive Director
Soper Reese Community Theatre
September 16 is the return of a new season of Third Friday Live. This concert series, brought to you by the Soper-Reese Community Theatre, will run through May of 2012.
Hats Off to Carl Stewart
The Soper-Reese will be emphasizing its middle name, “Community,” at the September event by calling on Lake County to join in the concert as a benefit for Carl Stewart who has a serious illness and needs some help. Carl is actively involved in many areas of the community including lead singer in Without A Net which will be headlining on the 16th, with Andy Kong opening. Another group of Carl’s friends perform in the A Cappella group, EarReverence, and they will also be there to offer support.
For those who don’t know Carl, he is the Principal at Highlands Academy Middle School, lead singer for Without a Net and Blue Collar, vocalist for the Lake County Symphony, and is active in the Unitarian Church. Come out to support Carl and enjoy an evening of music on September 16.
People Services Art Gallery
I had the pleasure as a member of the People Services Board of Directors to tour that organization’s programs with the rest of the board. It was a real pleasure to see what great things are happening with this jewel of an organization. The reason I mention it here, is that the tour included a sneak preview of the new Art Gallery at the program’s facility on Lakeshore Blvd. in Clearlake. The art work of the PSI clients is stunning in its depth and talent. They’re planning a grand opening in the near future, so stay tuned for more information on these plans.
More on the Docket in the Fall
KPFZ is followed its very successful Singer Songwriter show with the incredible “Roy Rogers and the Delta Rhythm Kings,” on September 9;. This show was world class. And don’t forget that this month’s 2nd Tuesday Classic Movie is Hitchcock’s classic “Psycho.” Show starts at 6pm.
October’s Third Friday will feature the Fargo Brothers, and don’t forget to get your tickets early for the Triskela Harp Trio on October 22 and 23, which will also include the incredible Lake County A Cappella group “Il Mio Divas.”
Symphony Season Starts in November
The Clear Lake Performing Arts (Lake County Symphony) has put together a new subscription ticket program for the 2011-12 season. You can now purchase season tickets, on-line, and reserve your same seats for all three programs. This will also allow you to be assured that you have first priority on those same seats for the following year. The Soper Reese Theatre is very proud to have had a part in providing a home for our Symphony and our new ticketing system has provided the ability to offer this service to CLPA audiences.
Change is continuous in an all volunteer organization and for us we keep working to improve what we do as these changes take place. Be patient with us as we make changes to improve our service to you and experience the inevitable bumps in the road.
For all the latest in information, tickets and more go to www.soperreesetheatre.com, and we’ll see you at the theatre.
